Ruben Delvalle (Owner/Founder)
Born and raised in Chicago, Ruben embarked on an incredible path after graduating high school. He enlisted in the United States Marines in 2001, and served four years in the infantry with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines 1st Marine Division. During his time in the Marines, he had the privilege to serve with some incredible Marines while also traveling to various countries. These experiences not only broadened his horizons but also exposed him to different cultures and deepened his appreciation for the finer things in life. In 2004, his unit would receive orders to Iraq. The challenges and sacrifices he faced during that time strengthened his faith and would eventually make a lasting impact on his life.
After being honorably discharged in 2005, he entered a new chapter in his life, exploring different career paths and gaining valuable experiences along the way. Fast forward to 2008 he was hired by the City of Chicago as a police officer. For over a decade, he's dedicated his life to protecting and serving the citizens of Chicago.
2020 would bring immense challenges in the form of the global pandemic. During the height of the COVID-19 crisis, he found solace in conversations and shared moments with a friend, Paul Bujak. Their love for premium cigars ignited interesting conversations about different tobaccos and blends. He always wanted to create something extraordinary in the cigar industry, Inspired by the brotherhood and camaraderie he experienced with his platoon during his time in the Marines. In 2021 he founded Platoon Cigar Co., with a clear vision in mind, create the finest blends with premier tobaccos. No easy task but he knew with the right team behind him he could create amazing cigars.
